Abstract: 

The fundamental issues in order to achieve urban sustainable development, is recognition urban framework pattern and trying to achieve desirable urban form. The aim of this study is to assess the capaCITY of communities’ form based on compressed pattern. Research method in terms of the nature, is descriptive-analytic type and in terms of purpose, is an applied type. In order to collect information, statistical blocks of 2011 were used. To extract and classify the information, this research has been utilized by software (GIS). Entropy method for determining the intermix ratio of 22 Babolsar CITY neighborhoods have been used, also to classify neighborhoods form, COPRAS method is used. Results show that, the main indexes related to COMPACT form (building density, population, land mixed-use, ratio of car ownership, etc. ) have a favorable situation in semi— COMPACT neighborhoods including Shahrak saheli, Shahrak daneshgah, Shahrak azadegan and Nokhostvaziry and semi— dispersed neighborhoods including Yormahale bala, Shahrk ghaem, Ketiben, Olompaye and Javahery and these neighborhoods have a relatively higher potential for implementing a COMPACT growth pattern, and in neighborhoods such as Bibi Serrosh, the amount of Qj obtained has the greatest difference with other neighborhoods therefore, it has the lowest potential. According to the results, the growth pattern in most urban neighborhoods shows a dispersed form which, in light of the advantages of the COMPACT form in the context of effective planning and management, creates more sustainability for such sites.

Abstract: 

In the twenty-first century, the problem of the form and shape or how the CITY grows in space, consistent with the CITY's sustainability teachings, is one of the main concerns of urban experts and scientists. This concern in the form of urban dispersal growth has emerged in many cities as a major problem, and Tehran has not escaped this problem. Therefore, the present study attempts to prioritize influential forces during the ten-year period by examining the pattern of growth in Tehran's 22nd district. The identification of the region's growth pattern was carried out using the Shannon Entropy and Hellendron model, and the data of prioritization and identification of effective and influential forces were analyzed using the Analytic Network Process (ANP) and structural analysis model. Based on the obtained results, Shannon entropy model, district 22, has been scattered over 10 years. Based on the Heldron model, the effect of physical development of the region's growth was more than its population growth. Also, the findings show "land price increase” , "independence in decision making (public / private)" and "bourgeoisie and land market" are more important than other parameters. In this regard, the influential factors of the dispersed growth of Tehran's district 22 include "reduced physical activity", "soil degradation", "increased fuel and energy consumption", "pollution", "destruction of agricultural land", "the destruction of the ecosystem and wildlife” and “ rise in temperature".

Abstract: 

The expansion of cities in and around the peripheral agricultural land has caused land contamination within urban areas leading to an inefficient CITY form. Nevertheless, failure to control the process by means of various economic, planning, and ecological restrictions would eventually result in destruction, waste of resources, and an inefficient use of urban space. Drawing on a historical analysis of urban planning and design, the author examines a planned strategy to solve the problem.

Abstract: 

The need for sustainable urban development in urban communities and large cities has been emphasized due to rapid urbanization and limitation of land and biological resources. One of the strategies to achieve sustainable urban development is sustainable form of CITY which has influential role in determining the sustainability of urban environments. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to redefine and determine physical development strategy and sustainable form of Isfahan CITY to achieve sustainable urban development in prospect of 2035. This study is applied in term of objective. The methodology of this study is a combination of document, analysis, causal and survey. Data collection tool is questionnaire. According to the objectives and the nature of research and to achieve consensus on the identification and assessment of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Isfahan urban development, data was gathered through 879 samples from the study population including citizens, urban experts and managers and supplementary interviews with 25 people from a selection of experts and CITY managers and then was analyzed and evaluated using Pearson correlation coefficient and SPPS software. Also, to redefine and establish physical development strategy and sustainable form of Isfahan and completion of evaluation research data, SWOT strategic analysis and internal factors evaluation matrix (IFE) and external factors evaluation matrix (EFE) was used and development physical strategies and sustainable form of Isfahan including the sprawl growth with COMPACT or discrete form of CITY and smart growth strategy of a COMPACT CITY has been analyzed and evaluated. According to the perspective of citizens, urban experts and managers as well as the SWOT matrix and the evaluation of internal and external factors, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and evaluating the benefits of urban development strategy, it was concluded that strategy of urban smart growth and COMPACT CITY is the best and selected strategy for physical development and sustainable form of Isfahan CITY with total scores of 3.80 and 3.11 for the internal and external factors using aggressive strategy approach.

Abstract: 

In the late decades of the 20th century, urban planners, due to the environmental worries arising from modernist urbanism looked for paradigms of new sustainable development regarding ideal CITY forms, since urban sprawl and horizontal expanse of cities lead to different socio–economic and structural disorders; therefore, during the recent decades, planners who are unanimously heading for sustainable development, have been taking different CITY forms into consideration, one of which being CITY COMPACT form or COMPACT CITY which results in a balanced social atmosphere and decreases energy consumption. This study, aiming at comparing the existing CITY textures and identifying the structural characteristics of each (especially the middle texture ) in the CITY of Bojnord, and based on a descriptive method and using the SWOT technique, shows that Bojnord CITY, under the influence of various economic, social and historical factors, has consequently enjoyed three textures : ancient, middle and external, each of which providing some certain facilities and limitations to achieve the goal of a sustainable CITY. results, within framework smart cities theory, shows that the inner texture of Bojnord, compared with the problematic ancient texture and the informal settlements in the external texture has a higher potentiality for combining mix-land uses and compressing the CITY. It should be noted that proper planning can be a good point to move toward sustainable CITY development.

Abstract: 

The spatial structure of cities has changed a lot after technological changes and population growth and they have shifted from a monocentric COMPACT CITY structure to an extended and scattered structure that poses many challenges and they have made human life and well-being difficult. Efforts to achieve a sustainable urban structure and form intensified after the second half of the twentieth century and solutions such as smart growth, urbanism, infill development, and a COMPACT CITY are offered. Following the process of changing the structure of cities, the structure of polycentric CITY has become apparent in large cities. The formation of a polycentric structure in large cities is inevitable. Therefore, in order to increase sustainability in the urban form and achieve sustainable urban development, it is necessary to combine the polycentric CITY structure with previous approaches such as the COMPACT CITY. The main purpose of the research is to explain theoretically the approach of polycentric COMPACT CITY structure within the framework of urban planning theories. In this study, using the review method of studies related to urban sprawl, COMPACT CITY and polycentric structure, the theoretical framework of combining COMPACT and polycentric structures was explained. The research results suggest that a COMPACT CITY with several indicators such as increasing density, strengthening public transport, increasing mixed land use, facilitating service delivery, reducing the distance between home and work, intensification and infill are proposed as the last structure to achieve sustainable urban development. Polycentric COMPACT CITY approach takes advantage from the three structures of sprawl, COMPACT CITY and polycentric CITY to achieve a sustainable CITY form.

Abstract: 

In the present study, the main purpose is the qualitative study on garbage collection in Tehran CITY. It has been done by qualitative research method. Semi-structured interview and purposeful sampling techniques were used in data collection. To do this, 15 people were interviewed and the sample size in the present study was determined based on theoretical saturation. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. Theme analysis was performed at 4 levels of primary, main, central and core themes. A total of 184 initial themes were extracted from all interviews. In the main coding stage, the following 9 main themes were merged. Escape from poverty in the origin and the inevitable choice of inferiority, society's view to garbage collectors, and high stress, strengthening the cycle of academic reluctance and illiteracy, physical and mental torment, unknown horizon and confusion of the Khojies, legal ambiguity and customary definitions and contracts, complaints from relevant institutions, the entry of the mafia and the formation of rent and corruption. Finally, these themes fall into two categories of social harmfulness of recycling and institutional exclusion and illegallity of the status of garbage collectors in the second distrect in the form of the core theme of the structure of socially harmful and institutionally illegal, waste phenomenon explained..

Abstract: 

Introduction: A COMPACT CITY is a sustainable urban form. The main goal of this idea is to create cities with high density but far from the problems in the modernist CITY. This research aims to evaluate the physical-functional aspect of CITY form based on the COMPACT CITY approach in 22 districts of Tehran.Data and Method: Eight indicators of mix and variety of uses, density of residential buildings, percentage of rehabilitation and renovation of urban decay, population density, street density, subway coverage, bus coverage, and bicycle paths have been used. The research method is applied research and the findings obtained from the network analysis in ArcGis and Shannon entropy were obtained and then Merec method was used for weighting the parameters and Cocoso method was used for ranking the options which were the same areas of Tehran.Results: In order to rank the regions of Tehran in terms of a physical-functional aspect of COMPACT urban form, at first, data related to each measure was collected for 22 regions and then the score of each measure was converted into a standard score. Finally, the areas of Tehran CITY were divided into five groups according to the level of physical-functional aspect of COMPACT urban form parameters.Conclusion: The results show that each of the regions has different criteria of 8 parameters of the physical-functional aspect of COMPACT urban form, that region 6 with k=2.154 has the highest priority and region 19 with k=1.333 has the lowest priority and potential for COMPACT urban form. In addition, other regions are also ranked according to the final score.
